Presentation lanterns, sometimes known as Conductors lanterns, were often given as a gift or commendation upon a conductor’s retirement or achievement of a significant milestone. Sometimes they were also given for heroic actions saving people from a crash or other noteworthy deeds.These lanterns are usually engraved, and the globes are often embossed or etched with designs and the person’s name. More ornate versions feature globes with 2 colors of glass together. The lantern frame itself is usually plated with nickel or even silver in some cases. These lanterns are by far the rarest and most collectible, and can carry hefty price tags into the thousands for lanterns in especially good condition, with provenance, and desirable features.
