Railroads produced playing cards for riders as a complimentary item for entertainment while riding the rails and as a souvenier to take home and remind them every time they used the cards about that particular railroad. Most railroad decks of cards are not particularly valuable, selling for less than $30. To be really valuable the deck needs to have all its cards (52), be in unused or mint condition, have a great design, and be from very early days of the railroads. The nicest decks tend to sell for $150 to $200, with common decks selling for $10 to $20.
